Leather Care Guide
How to Care for Your Leather
Genuine leather is a living material — it breathes, flexes, and develops a beautiful patina over time. With a little care, your Kordovan piece will outlast decades of daily use and look better for every year it is worn.
Daily Habits
- Wipe down with a soft, dry cloth after use to remove dust and moisture
- Allow wet leather to dry naturally at room temperature — never use a hair dryer or place near a heater
- Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, which can fade and dry out the leather
- Keep away from sharp objects and rough surfaces
Monthly Care
- Apply a small amount of quality leather conditioner using a soft cloth
- Work in small circular motions, then buff off any excess
- Conditioning every 4-6 weeks keeps the leather supple and prevents cracking
Storing Your Leather
- Store in a cool, dry place away from humidity
- Use a dust bag or breathable cotton cover
- Never store in plastic — leather needs to breathe
- Stuff bags with tissue paper to maintain shape during storage
Veg-Tan Leather: Embrace the Patina
Our veg-tan leather products are meant to darken and develop character over time. The marks, scratches, and colour deepening you see are not flaws — they are the leather recording your life. This is what makes each piece uniquely yours.
Full-Grain Leather
Full-grain retains the natural grain of the hide, making it the most durable and breathable type of leather. It resists moisture better than corrected-grain leather and ages most gracefully.
What to Avoid
- Chemical cleaners, alcohol, or acetone — these strip natural oils and damage the finish
- Soaking or submerging in water
- Storing in humid environments
- Folding or creasing bags for extended periods
