How to get the size right

Hat sizing is the one thing people get wrong buying online, and it is easy to get right. Run a tape measure around your head about a centimetre above your ears and across the middle of your forehead — where the hat will actually sit. Keep it snug, not tight. That measurement in inches is your size:

• S — 20 to 21.5 inches
• M — 21.5 to 22.5 inches
• L — 22.5 to 23 inches
• XL — 23 inches and above

If you fall between two sizes, take the larger one. Leather gives a little with wear; it does not shrink back.

Which style suits you

• Crushable — soft, packable leather that springs back into shape. The one to buy if it will live in a car or a bag.
• Suede — matte, softer surface and a quieter finish. Less shine, more texture.
• Studded band — a firmer crown with a metal-studded band. The statement piece of the range.
• Clifford — our heaviest build, in faded black and rustic brown, with a shaped brim that holds its curve.

What a leather cowboy hat should cost in Pakistan

Below about Rs 2,500 you are almost always looking at pressed felt, PU or a coated fabric rather than hide. A genuine leather hat starts around Rs 4,500 and runs to roughly Rs 12,000 depending on the weight of the leather and the hardware. Ours sit inside that band because we make them ourselves rather than import them.

Looking after it

Keep it crown-down on a flat surface or on a hat rack — resting it on the brim will flatten the curve over time. If it gets wet, let it dry away from direct heat and reshape it while it is still slightly damp. A light leather conditioner once or twice a year keeps the hide supple in dry weather.
