Best Winter Jackets in Pakistan (2026): Types, Brands and Real Prices

Kordovan makes leather jackets. We do not make puffers, parkas or wool coats — so for most of this guide we have no stake in what you choose, and we have tried to be straight about when leather is the wrong answer. It often is. If you live in Murree and need to be warm in January, a leather jacket is not what you want, and we will say so below.

Start with where you live, not with the jacket
Pakistan does not have one winter, it has about four. Buying for the wrong one is the most expensive mistake in this category — and it is usually a jacket that is too warm to wear rather than too thin.
- Karachi and Hyderabad. A handful of genuinely cool weeks. A light padded jacket, a fleece or a lined leather jacket covers the entire season. A heavy puffer will sit in a cupboard.
- Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan, Gujranwala. Cold mornings and evenings from December to February, mild afternoons. A mid-weight puffer, or a leather jacket over a sweater, handles almost everything.
- Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Sialkot. Colder and damper. A puffer with real fill weight, or a parka if you are outdoors early and late.
- Murree, Swat, Quetta, Gilgit and the north. Actual winter. A hooded, insulated parka. Nothing on this page except a proper parka is enough on its own.
How much fill you actually need
Fill weight is the number that decides whether a puffer works, and almost nobody publishes it. If a listing does not state the fill, ask.
- Under 100g — an autumn jacket. Fine for October, not for January anywhere north of Karachi.
- 150–250g synthetic — the sweet spot for most of Pakistan. Warm enough for a Lahore or Islamabad winter, not so warm that you stop wearing it indoors.
- 300g and above — northern areas and genuine cold. You will overheat in it in most cities.
Down fill is warmer per gram than synthetic and packs smaller, but it loses most of its insulation when wet and costs considerably more. For Pakistani conditions, good synthetic fill is usually the more sensible buy.
What a winter jacket actually costs here
The bands that matter, whatever the label says:
- Under Rs 2,000 — thin fill in a thin shell. It will look right for one season and flatten by the second. This is the bulk of what is sold online.
- Rs 3,000 – 8,000 — the honest band for a synthetic puffer that lasts three to five winters with real fill weight behind it.
- Rs 8,000 – 20,000 — a proper parka, a wool overcoat, or a well-made technical jacket.
- Rs 20,000 – 40,000 — genuine leather. A different purchase entirely: you are buying ten years, not one winter.

Where leather fits, honestly
Leather is the best windproof layer money can buy and one of the worst insulators. That single sentence explains most of what people get wrong about it.
Leather is the right answer if: you are in Karachi, Lahore or Multan, you want one jacket that will still look good in ten years, and you are happy to put a sweater underneath on the coldest nights.
Leather is the wrong answer if: you need to be warm standing still in Murree in January, you want something you can machine wash, or you want to spend under Rs 15,000. A genuine leather jacket does not exist below roughly Rs 20,000 in Pakistan, and anything cheaper claiming to be one is almost always PU.

The sizing mistake almost everyone makes
You try the jacket on in September, over a t-shirt. It fits beautifully. In January you put a sweater on underneath and it will not close.
Buy for the layer you will actually be wearing in the coldest month. On a puffer, allow room to get a fist between your chest and the closed zip. On leather, which does not stretch back once it has stretched, size for the sweater rather than the shirt. If you are between sizes and the jacket is your main winter layer, take the larger one.

What is the best winter jacket for Pakistan?
It depends where you live. In Karachi and Hyderabad a light padded jacket or a lined leather jacket is enough for the whole season. In Lahore, Islamabad and Rawalpindi a puffer with 150 to 250 grams of fill covers most nights. For Murree, Swat, Skardu or Quetta in deep winter you want a proper insulated parka with a hood.
How much should a good winter jacket cost in Pakistan?
Roughly Rs 3,000 to Rs 8,000 for a decent synthetic puffer, Rs 8,000 to Rs 20,000 for a well-made parka or wool coat, and Rs 20,000 to Rs 40,000 for a genuine leather jacket. Below about Rs 2,000 you are buying thin fill in a shell that will not survive two seasons.
Is a leather jacket warm enough for Pakistani winter?
Leather blocks wind extremely well but insulates poorly by itself. A lined leather jacket is comfortable on its own through a Karachi winter. Further north it works as a windproof outer layer over a sweater rather than as your only source of warmth.
Puffer or parka, which is better?
A puffer is shorter, lighter and easier to wear every day. A parka is longer, usually hooded, and covers the hips, which matters when it is genuinely cold or wet. For most Pakistani cities a puffer is enough; for the northern areas in December and January a parka earns its bulk.
What fill weight do I need?
For most of the country, 150 to 250 grams of synthetic fill covers the season. Below 100 grams is an autumn jacket. Above 300 grams you will overheat anywhere except the northern mountains in deep winter.
What size should I buy?
Size for the layer you will wear underneath in January, not the t-shirt you have on when you try it in September. That is the single most common winter jacket mistake.
The bottom line
Decide where you will actually wear it before you decide what it is made of. For most Pakistani cities a mid-weight puffer at Rs 3,000 to 8,000 does the job for three to five winters. For the north, buy the parka.
